The Best-Selling vampire series that has all the paranormal romance fans raving

Includes 8 FREE bonus books at the ends of the original series.

Eighteen-year-old Caroline is about to graduate from the Venatores lamiae high school. A year ago, the vampires she spent her life fearing kidnapped her and she learned they’re not as evil as she was taught. When Los Angeles, home of the master vampire Nicholas, suffers a rash of grotesque murders, the Venatores blame the vampires, but Caroline knows they’re innocent of the vicious crimes.

When Caroline warns Nicholas of the impending attack from the hunters, he in turn tells her about were-animals who once existed alongside vampires. Animals with supernatural strength and hunger hunted the vampires in a hundred-year war that supposedly left the were-population extinct, and almost destroyed the vampires.

Together, Caroline and Nicholas work to solve the mystery of who, or what, is killing the innocent. When Caroline becomes a target of an assassination plot of her as well, it is Nicholas who must save her. But, the healing comes at a price. Nicholas wants her to belong to him, and offers her almost unlimited power and immortality. But, to achieve what he desires she must turn her back on everyone she cares about in the society of hunters.

Caroline is once again presented with a choice between her fellow humans who fear and betray her, or the master vampire that consumes her thoughts, even in her dreams.

The Vampire Spell Surrendering to The Night Book 2 edition by Lucy Lyons KT Stryker Jan Dockter Paranormal Romance eBooks

Finally a heroine that doesn't go moping over a boy, so overall a interesting plot! However if I could, I'd give it 3.5 stars. The story is good but the way the book is formatted in Kindle is awful. Paragraph breaks were terrible, making it hard to figure out at times which character was speaking. If you can fixed the technical issues, the book won't seem so disjointed!

The Vampire Spell Surrendering to The Night Book 2 edition by Lucy Lyons KT Stryker Jan Dockter Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

I received this Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for my honest review.

Nice continuation to the series. This second book picks up about a year after Caroline’s abduction and rescue from the Vampires. Since she has returned to school she has been working hard, doing double duty, with both hunter and sorceress studies. She and Clay are still close friends, for which she is grateful, because almost everyone else holds some form of animosity towards her from her time with the vampires. No one trusts her, she has only a couple of friends and she always has to defend her dedication and loyalty to the hunters. To make matters worse, upon their return from captivity, her prior best friend and foster brother David has done nothing but rearrange facts and spread horrendous lies about her; he hates her with a vengeance and wants her dead. Nicholas, the vampire king, is the only good thing she has to hold onto in her life right now; and yet as badly as she craves him, she still has doubts about where his true loyalties lie and what he truly wants from her. After an assassination attempt on her life, that was almost successful, Nicholas has to go to extreme measure to save her. Finding out this information she is shocked, confused and angry with the master vampire. What ultimately will this mean for them in the end? This 18 year old girl has a lot on her plate as she receives her first assignment to help the hunters track down the thing or things responsible for the new rash of horrible murders being committed. Though the hunters say it is the vampires, Caroline is not so sure. There is someone behind the scene pulling the strings; but for what purpose and to what end, she is unsure. Can she and Nicholas get to the bottom of these murders in time? Without knowing ultimately who she can trust and who wants her dead will Caroline survive long enough to find the culprit and bring them to justice?

In this book you will see more character development including the decisions and hardships Caroline faces with the new threat, trying to decide whom she can and cannot trust; who is truly her friend and wants to help and who really just sees her as a means to an end, willing to sacrifice her for their own greedy needs. There is lots of action, suspense and snippets of romantic entanglements that keep you turning the page and rooting for Caroline and Nicholas; hoping they come out unscathed. But with their new connection, will it bring them closer together or push them further away?
*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from the author*

This series started out well enough when Caroline got captured and was held with the vampires, the natural enemies of the hunters she excelled alongside. That first installment left me wondering what would happen with the blooming couple, and so I was excited to get into this one when I had time. I finished it, and I've decided that it wasn't for me, for reasons I'll explain without spoiling anything.

It wasn't for me. The first thing I will say is that I thought the plot was promising, but I just couldn't click with it. The way it was written constantly had me taken out of the reading flow to check who was talking and what was going on. The pacing was a little weird for me, but my main problem was the main character herself. One minute she seemed mature, the next she was the kid she kept proclaiming to be, and I personally would prefer I not think of her as a kid when she's getting hot and heavy with an older vampire man. I just had a hard time boating down this river of the second installment, and because of that, it was very hard to get into the story. Her outbursts seemed logical at times but again, I found myself questioning her actions more than getting behind her, and that's never a good experience. The ending was... well, if I were more invested, it'd be interesting. I recommend the first book, because that one was really cool to get into, but I'm not so sure about this one. I've already got the third book, and I hope I fit better with it...
This book of the series reminded me a great deal of the Anita Blake series. Caroline now carries a mark from Nickolas which has given her more power than she had before. However, she isn't happy how she received it, nor is she going to accept another. Someone has tried to kill her. She will not accept this readily without a fight and from where I'm sitting whoever is responsible better run. I love the characters here because each has a definite personality that you can almost touch. Vampires and Hunters! Now we have rats (not wolves) as Nickolas' animal to call and states that with his claim they are protected by him. Doesn't sound good for the hunters, but then they may have to rethink how they have also bypassed the treaties between them and the vampires for so many centuries. Warrants to kill will not be so easily served I'm certain, and the hunters will no longer have carte blanche in killing vampires out of hand.

No matter what is thought, Caroline is definitely loyal to her people, but she is also fair minded and will always question what is being done. This begs the question.....who can she trust?
The stories are short but a good quick read.
It was shorter than I thought, but had me wanting to keeping reading. I'm getting the third book very soon.
This book says it has 193 pages. Why was this replaced with another book called captured by dragons? I am so confused. I really getting into the series but I am not going to pay 2.99 for not even half a book and then get half of another book. I was really liking these too. I hope it's a mix up. If it gets fixed I will change my review. Just seems off to go into another book.
I chose the highest rating because The Vampire's Spell book 1 & 2 was phenomenal and kept the reader entertained. I hope Lucy Lyons writes The Vampire's Spell's 3rd book soon! I cannot wait to find out what happens between the Vampire King and Clare. I also can not wait to find out what happens between David, Clare and the Vampire King!
I would recommend this book to anyone that loves mystical action and mystical romance. I am 27 and loved the book!
Finally a heroine that doesn't go moping over a boy, so overall a interesting plot! However if I could, I'd give it 3.5 stars. The story is good but the way the book is formatted in is awful.
